Hello, KLN viewers! This is a guide to all of our channels, which cover everything from writing tips and interviews to book-related crafts and activities. Click on any channel to view all current “episodes” (aka posts).
You can return back to this guide anytime by clicking on the remote control on the right side of every page. Happy channel surfing!
This is where you’ll find all sorts of writing tips for all sorts of writers. Voice! Plotting! Outlines! Dangling participles! Give that WIP a nip and tuck. If you’ve ever considered writing a children’s TV show or film, this is the channel to find scriptwriting tips and tricks.
We’ll be covering all the ups, downs, and unexpected surprises of what happens after The Offer with a series of posts on the publishing industry, including topics such as writing for book packagers.
Read any good books lately? We have! Here is where we share our thoughts on our latest reads, including young adult, middle grade, chapter books, graphic novels, and everything in between. We’ll also be giving a little extra love to banned books, aka those which some organizations feel are dangerous because they encourage kids to think (the audacity!). You can also find “rad reruns” on this channel – meaning classic books that, unlike neon leg warmers and crunchy perms, will never go out of style.
This is the channel for all book-related news, including interviews with your favorite authors, literary agents, editors, librarians, illustrators, and other experts in children’s literature and publishing. Any and all contests and cover reveals can also be found right here.
The story doesn’t have to end after you turn the last page. On this channel, we offer step-by-step instructions to help guide you through fun crafts based on specific middle grade novels featured in our KLN Book Club.
The KLN Book Club channel is where you can find ALL of our book club downloads – and we’re adding more all the time. Here’s how it works: We read a book we love, we review it and/or interview the author, we create a fun craft based on the story, we compile everything into a document, along with crossword puzzles, word searches, and classroom questions into one post, and we publish them on this channel, each with a link that allows you to download the entire packet as a PDF.
If you’re an author and you’d like us to put together a KLN Book Club packet for your book – we’d love to! Send us a holler at kidlitnetwork at gmail dot com.
How many books would you have never discovered as a kid if it weren’t for the librarian who knew just what to take off the shelf and put in your hands? We’ve got an amazing librarian on staff ready to share her thoughts on books for kids.
Check this channel out for posts on the chapter book and middle grade illustration process, including thoughts on the tools of the trade and what e-books mean for illustrators.
